Privacy notice
The short version. When you turn voice on, the relay passes your voice live to nearby players. It does not record you, except that it keeps the last two minutes of what you said in memory so that, if someone reports you or you report someone, moderators can hear what happened. Nothing is sold, nothing is tracked, no account is created.
Who is responsible
WynnVoiceChat and its relay are run by DevScyu (Scyu_ on Discord), an individual in the United Kingdom, who is the controller of the data below under the UK GDPR. There is no data protection officer, and as an individual running a non-commercial service the operator is exempt from the ICO data protection fee (self-assessed 2026-09-19).
Contact: privacy@wynnvoicechat.com, or a direct message to Scyu_ on our Discord.
What the relay processes, and why
| What | Why | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Your Minecraft UUID and username | To know who is who, and to enforce blocks and bans | Your game client; verified with Mojang’s session server |
| The Wynncraft world and instance you are on, and your position | To send your voice only to players near you | Your game client |
| Your party, friends and guild | To route voice for the tier you picked | Your game client and Wynncraft’s public API |
| Your IP address | To carry audio to you | Your connection |
| Your voice | To let others hear you | Your microphone |
You need to provide your UUID, position and IP for the relay to work at all; without them there is no service. Relations (party, friends, guild) are only read if you pick a tier that uses them.
Legal basis. All of this rests on our legitimate interest in running a voice service Wynncraft players have asked for, and on the other players’ interest in a safe one (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We do not ask for consent to this processing, because the service cannot run without it; the in-game notice is there so you know what happens before you switch voice on, and you can switch it off at any time.
Voice audio, in detail
- Voice is relayed live and not stored.
- For each speaker the relay keeps the last 120 seconds of speech in memory (silence is not kept). Older audio is dropped as new audio arrives. This buffer exists only so reports can carry evidence.
- When a report is made, the buffered audio of both the reporter and the reported player is written out as two audio files and posted, with the report details (who, whom, reason, world, instance), to a private moderators’ channel on Discord. The relay keeps its own copy of those files for 30 days, then deletes them.
- Moderators are volunteers from the community. They can dismiss the report or ban the reported player for 7 days, 30 days, or permanently.
You have the right to object to this processing of your voice on grounds relating to your particular situation. The practical way to do that is to turn voice off (/wynnvoicechat disable), which stops the relay handling your audio at once; to object formally, contact us using the details above.
What is kept, and for how long
| Record | Contents | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Live voice | Nothing | Not stored |
| Speech buffer | Last 120 s per speaker | In memory only; overwritten continuously, gone when you disconnect |
| Report | Reporter, reported player, reason, world, instance, two audio clips | Relay copy: 30 days. Discord copy: see below |
| Session record | Join and leave time, tier, world, why the session ended | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Block list | Who you have blocked | Until you unblock them |
| Ban record | UUID, reason, who issued it, expiry | For the life of the ban, then 12 months so repeat offences can be recognised; permanent bans for as long as they stand |
| Server logs | Connection events, which may include UUID and IP | Up to 14 days; logs are size-capped and overwrite themselves |
Aggregate metrics (how many people are on voice, latency) carry no identity.
Where your data is processed
The relay runs in Virginia, USA, on a server provided by Lilypad Technologies Ltd (a UK company, no. 14830432). Reports are stored by Discord in the USA. Your data is therefore processed in the United States even though the operator is in the UK.
Who else sees anything
- Mojang (Microsoft): your login is verified against Mojang’s session server, the same check every Minecraft server makes.
- Wynncraft: the relay reads party and guild membership from Wynncraft’s public API. Nothing is sent to Wynncraft.
- Discord Inc.: the moderators’ channel is on Discord. A report posted there, including the audio clips, is stored by Discord in the United States under Discord’s own privacy policy. Discord is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which is the safeguard relied on for that transfer.
- The moderators: a small team of community volunteers who can see reports. They are not Wynncraft staff.
- Lilypad Technologies Ltd: provides the server the relay runs on, under their terms and privacy policy. They host; they do not use the data. A written confirmation of Lilypad’s processing terms for the US node is being obtained and will be reflected here.
Nobody else. No analytics, no advertising, no sale or sharing of data, on this site or in the mod.
Decisions made automatically
None. Every ban is decided by a person after listening to the report. The relay does automatically refuse connections from banned UUIDs for the length of the ban.
Age
WynnVoiceChat is for players aged 13 and over, in line with Wynncraft’s own rules. If we learn that a user is under 13, we delete their records and stop the relay accepting them.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you (access),
- correct it,
- delete it (erasure); note that a ban record may be kept as the minimum needed to keep the ban effective,
- restrict or object to how we use it,
- give it to you in a portable form.
To do any of these, or to ask for your records to be deleted, contact us using the details above. We answer within one month.
You also have the right to complain, to us first if you like, and to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113. If you are in the EU, you may complain to your local supervisory authority instead.
Turning it off
Voice is off until you accept the in-game notice. /wynnvoicechat disable, or uninstalling the mod, stops the relay handling anything about you from that moment. Session records and any report you were part of are kept for the periods above and then deleted.
Changes
We will change the version number and date at the top when this notice changes, and the mod will ask you to read it again before voice turns back on.
